Better by design

Inspired by a chance encounter in 2021 with Minnie, the newly appointed CEO of The Design Council , we began to think about what design means. For everyone.

The result was a film, developed and scripted by OPX, answering the question ' what do we mean by design?' and which has become a flagship communication for The Design Council.

The Design Council exist to make life better by design. They help individuals, communities, businesses, the economy and above all, the planet achieve this.

They asked us to develop a modern and fresh visual expression to reflect their purpose.


We simplified the design system by promoting the use of white space with structured use of red to create signature moments.

Carefully selected imagery represents all disciplines of the design industry as well as UK communities and industry.

Tempting to be too clever or too showy. The brief was for a refresh rather than a rebrand and we’re delighted that with small but important changes, OPX have done exactly what we wanted. A canvas for our communications that feels fresher, warmer and cleaner.”
